Shattered Worlds RPG

Bar the doors, and Lets sleep
Escape from Jueno

Five strangers all woke up in the same place, all wearing a similar amulet (that they couldn't) take off, and unable to remember everything. After staggering along, they were attacked by groups of creatures that turned to sand when hit. Although they looked human, or at least humanoid they appeared mindless and unorganized.

At one point the battle began to become overwhelming, the sand creatures continued to pour into the room and altough the five strangers were fair at holding them off, they were not at the hard part yet. Suddenly a wall colapsed, revealing three creatures that were hulks compared to everything else. Well over eight feet tall, these hulks started the push towards the prey.

As if my some miracle, a stray group of paladin from Sybil Court, found their way to the five strangers. They used divine magic to repel the beasts long enough for everyone to escape. After being brought to the center chamber of Jueno (they city they learned they were in) and told it was safe do to magical barriers, the strangers rested.

But events did not unfold quite so easily for the strangers. During the night, one of the paladins that helped them, Sir Krogan, began to act unusual and strange. Before it was all over with, a secret passage was found in the chamber. Once in, past a broken crystal wall and what appeared to be the remains of a ritual there was a sword (zelda style) placed inside of a stone.

Everyone attempted to retrieve the sword, but seemed repelled before they could reach it. Everyone except Sir Krogan. He acted as if it was a gift from the gods, and the pulled the sword out.

At these point, things got hazy again for the five strangers. What happened to Sir Krogan at that point can hardly be described. All that can be clearly remember is that he was surrounded by a shadow cloak and then attacked. The strangers all fell under the influence of the cloak, unable to respond and strangly unharmed afterwards. The compainion of Sir Krogan did not fair so well. Luke (the white pally) was found just at the entrance tunnel, at least most of him. At later Thomas (the young pally) was found wounded and dying.

On his last breaths he warned the five strangers that Krogan was not him self, a danger, and must be stopped. They then navigated through a series of underground sewers until they finially escape the city.

traveling north along a rode, they come across an empty inn. The five strangers took advantage of the situation and rested up, resupplied there. They search the area and found severa things of interest. Upon night fall they bared the doors and windows, preparing for the worst…

Campaign Introduction
Opening Scene

The first thing you see is nothing at all. As you grow more conscious each moment, you realize that you’re eyes are closed, but you don’t quite have the strength to even open them yet. The dizziness you feel and the aching all over your body is the only thing convincing your that you're still even alive right now. And if you knew all that awaited you once you opened your eyes, you might wish you weren’t.

A few moments later – or maybe hours, its’ hard to tell – you force your eyes open and will yourself to sit up. You look around and quickly other notice others with you; all seeming to wake up along with you.  Your surroundings are unfamiliar, you realize as you glaze about the darkened room. As your mind becomes more clear, you hear a stranger ask, “Where am I?” in a almost frightening voice. That is when you realize that not only do you not know where you are, you can’t remember anything. Even your name almost escapes you but almost as if reaching for a last breath, or last attempt to make sense of what is going on you’re able to at least recall that much.

You don’t know where you are, how you got there, who these people are, or what is going on. Standing to your feet now, you can clearly see out of the window and what you see makes you wish you stayed sitting. Outside the window, there is endless smoke pouring into the darkened sky. For a far as your eye can see from this towers view is rubble and destruction. Small flames are scattered though out the horizon, and crushed and decimated remains of a city is the only thing that remains. The sun, in all its glory, is nowhere in sight, but it hints to its presence behind the dust and smoke filled sky.

Lost, confused, and shaken is how you have awakened to the destruction around you. How could anyone, or – for that matter – how could you survive the destruction that surrounds you? All you know for sure is that you have questions and it is time to find the answers, and your lost memories.
